18th Century Travel Necessaire - Sewing Etui
Made in England around 1750, this piece is a remarkable survivor. It has all but one of its original components as well as its matching chatelaine (more than the Louvre's example can claim) That is the level of quality we're talking about. Its gilt bronze exterior is in remarkable condition as are the agate panels that make up the body. A piece that would have broadcast wealth and status nearly 300 years ago, it would make a centerpiece to an antique jewelry or sartorial collection. 8”x1.5”
