The Garden of Eden by Earnest Lother.

Lothar, perhaps the most tenatious artist we at Kalos Acquisitions have had the pleasure of discovering, studied art in his native Poland, and later Paris in the 1910s and 20s. Knocking elbows with the greats like Picasso and Matisse, Lothat found himself in a precarious position when WWII broke out. Being of Jewish descent, he fled to a Swiss refugee camp where he continued to make and teach art to other occupants. He would later take the change to flee the European continent for Nicaragua where he worked on a tobacco plantation as a political refugee. Still, Lother made time for art. This piece offered here is estimated to be of this period in the early 1940s. Framed by the artist himself. Lothar's art began to gain notariety by politicians and the social elite in Nicaragua. He was eventually discovered by Sara Taylor (mother to the famous actor Elizabeth Taylor), who offered the artist and his family passage to the United states where she displayed and offered his work in her southern California art gallery.

An inspiration and talented artist working in the peak of the cubist and mid-century styles.

Oil paint, 20 1/2 x 27 in.
