Stack Pot by Peter Voulkos, 1976
Stack Pot by Peter Voulkos, 1976. This piece, from the collection of the origonal owner, traded some of his own ceramics for it while living in Berkely, California along side Voulkos. Voulkos challenged the ways ceramics were used; he took ceramics from its traditional utilitarian "vessel-ness" and began experimenting with forms and textures. He ultimately changed the way ceramics were utilized in art and is heralded as one of the master, modern ceramicists of the 20th century.
Stoneware, 36 x 11 x 11 in.
